Jay Hartmann is a painter of intimate and mundane moments of the sublime, focusing on the relationships between bodies and materials. His current work explores imagery pulled from daydreams and memories through the play of illustrative and gestural marks.


He received his MFA from Tyler School of Art and Architecture and currently practices in Los Angeles. His paintings have been shown in New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Rome.
